TerraFIRMA General Assembly, Met Office, May 2025

This year’s TerraFIRMA General Assembly was held successfully at the Met Office in Exeter on 14 and 15 May. Approximately 54 participants attended in-person, while another 20 joined online. The programme featured science talks and posters from across the breadth of TerraFIRMA, along with progress updates, breakout groups sessions, and discussions on ideas for potential future funding.

12 science talks were presented by TerraFIRMA project members, covering ice sheets and tipping points, overshoot experiments, aerosol emissions, UKESM2, ozone impacts and recovery, groundwater impacts, methane and fire CO emissions, etc. The talks can be viewed here. Many participants actively engaged in the Q&A sessions and found the talks interesting and informative.

15 posters were displayed onsite and online, covering various topics such as wetland methane emissions, soil moisture, stratospheric species, wildfires, ice sheet responses, Zero Emission Commitment (ZEC), marine ecosystems, aerosol emissions, and tipping point early warning systems. The posters can be viewed here.
