UK National Climate Science Partnership
The UK National Climate Science Partnership (UKNCSP) has been formed, to draw together climate research capability from six Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)-supported Research Centres and the Met Office.
The first edition of the UK National Climate Science Partnership newsletter was published in March 2025. It highlights some of the initial activities set up by the partnership, including; working groups on observations, climate interventions, sea level rise and climate modelling.
UK contributions to CMIP7 modelling – webinar!
The newsletter also highlights the UK’s key role in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP), through hosting the CMIP international project office, leadership of CMIP panels and wide engagement across the CMIP task teams. CMIP6 results underpinned the IPCC Sixth Assessment. CMIP7 will be a collaboration between the Met Office Hadley Centre and NERC partners facilitated by the UK National Climate Science Partnership (UKNCSP).
The UKNCSP would like to raise awareness throughout the UK climate modelling community of the status of plans for delivery of results from UK models to CMIP7. The UKNCSP hope that the broad climate community will be interested in this activity. The UKNCSP would like to engage and connect anyone who might be planning or wanting to contribute to CMIP7 by way of performing model simulations especially through the Community MIPs. For more information, please see the document attached and join us in May for the CMIP7 Webinar.
